What is body contouring with VelaShape III?

Body contouring at the Urban Aesthetix Clinic is performed with VelaShape III: a non-surgical treatment to help you achieve a toned and more shapely body – and reduce cellulite. It is ideal for treating the knees, bottom, thighs and stomach areas, when diet and exercise simply aren’t efficient enough.

Cellulite, known as ‘orange peel skin’, is caused by the herniation of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue. These underlying fat deposits in the skin create an unsightly dimpled appearance which is particularly noticeable on the buttocks, abdomen, thighs and upper arms. VelaShape III targets cellulite and loose skin and reduces the girth of the area at the same time.

VelaShape III combines infrared light and bi-polar radio frequency (RF) energy to heat fat cells, surrounding connective tissue and underlying dermal collagen fibres deeply yet gently, and vacuum to manipulate the skin. This stimulates the growth of new collagen and elastin to reduce skin laxity and body volume, and improve your skin structure and texture.

VelaShape III also stimulates blood flow and circulation at the same time to encourage lymphatic drainage, increase collagen production for younger looking skin and improve metabolism at a cellular level.

The Velashape III device is the third generation of the VelaShape® body sculpting family. It has a higher energy density, resulting in circumferential reduction after just one treatment. It is CE-marked for body contouring and FDA-cleared for circumferential reduction of the abdomen, bottom, thighs and love handles.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is body contouring used for?

VelaShape III contours and shapes the body by improving cellulite and reducing circumference. For example:

  • Cellulite: to help smooth and tighten skin and to re-contour uneven, irregular or dimpled skin for a lifted, more toned effect – especially for the knees, bottom and stomach areas
  • Circumference reduction: with noticeable reshaping of the treated area
  • Uneven skin texture and tone: to gradually smooth the skin’s surface with a noticeable reduction in cellulite
  • Dimpled knees: to treat knee cellulite and fat knees so that patients can wear a skirt or shorts with confidence
  • Sagging bottom: to help smooth, tighten and re-contour the skin
  • Love handles: to target fat at sides of stomach and unwanted saddle bags
  • Mummy tummy: to help you get back into shape after pregnancy
  • Belly fat: to treat a flabby stomach with a more suitable alternative to liposuction which can lead to bruising and swelling.

What does body contouring treatment involve?

Treatment is simple and safe if carried out by an experienced and fully qualified clinician, such as Dr Unnati Desai, following a detailed consultation.

VelaShape III is unique as the only non-invasive body shaping product to combine different technologies including IR (infrared), bi-polar RF (radio-frequency) and mechanical tissue manipulation. More than 3.5 million independent treatments have been performed globally to date confirming VelaShape III’s safety and unique effectiveness.

Depending on the area treated, the procedure can lasts 15-30 minutes per treatment areas and you can resume normal daily activities immediately afterwards.

How soon should you notice a difference?

After even just a single session, you should be able to see results, with patients reporting to have lost a dress size after a course of treatments. Patients have also reported a decrease in cellulite and tighter/firmer skin after 3 treatments.

You should achieve optimal results in 8 weeks following your first treatment.

How long does body contouring treatment last?

VelaShape III body contouring results are long-lasting provided you maintain a consistent weight and follow a healthy diet and exercise regime. Regular treatment may be advised to maintain the reduction of cellulite. Skin firming and skin tightening usually require repeat treatments as collagen will naturally decline.

Are there any side effects to body contouring treatment?

The procedure is painless.

Many patients say VelaShape III bodysculpting treatment is just like having a warm deep-tissue massage: this warm sensation may continue for a few hours post-treatment and skin may appear pink for several hours.

Please avoid any other form of heat treatment on the area treated in the same day.

When should body contouring not be used/be used with caution?

  • If you have a pacemaker or defibrillator
  • If you have recently had, or plan to have, major surgery
  • While pregnant or breastfeeding
  • If recovering from a major illness or injury
  • If you have lymphatic disorders or skin diseases
