What are stretchmarks?

Stretch marks, medically termed striae, are caused when the skin rapidly stretches, often due to weight gain or loss or during the later stages of pregnancy. The dermis tears so that deeper layers of skin show through, forming stretch marks – especially on the tummy and thighs. Several non-invasive treatments offered at the Urban Aesthetix Clinic, such as medical chemical peels, skin needling and Plexr® Soft Surgery, improve uneven skin tone and skin texture caused by unwanted stretch marks.

Enerpeel® medical chemical peels can stimulate skin re-modelling to reduce the appearance of acne scars and smooth out wrinkles, as well as boost collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production for a fresher, more radiant appearance.

Skin needling treatment with Dermapen™ is also known as micro-needling and stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production so that skin regenerates and repairs itself naturally, improving the appearance of stretchmarks.

Plexr® Soft Surgery uses a controlled micro-beam of plasma energy, which is the fourth state of matter. It targets the problem area resulting in tissue retraction and tightening for noticeable results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why consider stretch marks treatment?

Dermapen™ skin needling is used for:

  • Stretch marks: to tighten, lift and rejuvenate skin by replacing damaged skin with healthy new skin cells to improve the appearance of stretch marks.

Enerpeel® chemical peels have been specially formulated to treat specific skin conditions with minimal downtime. For example:

  • Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) 25%: to provide controlled exfoliation and long-lasting results. Used for skin-remodelling, a TCA peel improves texture and tone, colour, and helps reduce the appearance and texture of stretch marks.
  • Enerpeel® GA: this peel with glycolic acid can help fade stretch marks over time.

Plexr® Soft Surgery involves using a micro-plasma beam to target skin cells and stimulate skin renewal to help with:

  • Stretch marks: to improve the appearance of stretch marks (striae).
