What is acne scarring?

Acne scarring is a common side effect of acne. The severity of the acne scarring can differ from person to person, often causing embarrassment and distress. Several cosmetic treatments offered at the Urban Aesthetix Clinic, such as medical chemical peels and skin needling, improve acne-scarred skin for a smoother and healthier-looking complexion.

Treatments may be combined for optimum results.

Enerpeel® medical chemical peels can stimulate skin re-modelling to reduce the appearance of acne scars and smooth out wrinkles, as well as boost collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production to give acne scarred skin a fresher, more radiant appearance.

Skin needling treatment with Dermapen™ is also known as micro-needling and stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production so that skin regenerates and repairs itself naturally, improving the appearance of acne scars. It also provides a mechanical breakdown to the fibrous scar tissue

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why consider acne scarring treatment?

Enerpeel® medical chemical peels have been specially formulated to treat specific skin conditions with minimal downtime. For example:

  • Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) 25%: to provide controlled exfoliation and long-lasting results. Used for skin-remodelling, a TCA peel improves texture and tone, colour, age-spots, acne scarring and fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enerpeel® Revised Jessners: to reduce pigmentation and improve the appearance of acne scars
  • Enerpeel® Salicylic Acid 30%: to drastically improve acne specifically as it has an oil production reducing effect. It is most effective in the inflammatory phase of acne
  • Enerpeel® Pyruvic Acid 50%: to treat a broad range of skin complaints, including pore size, hyperpigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. It can also treat acne if patients are sensitive to salicylic acid.

Dermapen™ skin needling is used for:

  • Acne scars: to heal and even eliminate unsightly acne scars, whether mild or deep
  • Acne: to tighten, lift and rejuvenate skin by replacing damaged skin with healthy new skin cells
  • Large pores: to minimise pore size and improve complexion appearance.
