P-Shot®

The Priapus Shot® (P-Shot®) involves PRP Therapy to treat Peyronie’s disease without resorting to surgery. It is also a solution for erectile dysfunction and male impotence to boost your sexual performance, stamina and girth. The Priapus Shot® procedure at the Urban Aesthetix Clinic uses injections of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from your own blood for firmer, stronger, larger and more powerful erections, whatever your age.

PRP has been an alternative to surgery in regenerating skin tissue in wound healing, orthopaedics, ENT, neurosurgery and maxillofacial surgery by promoting safe and natural healing. The technique in non-surgical aesthetics was first used by Dr Charles Runels, creator of the Vampire Hair Restoration®.

PRP Therapy will improve Peyronie’s disease (where there is a bend in the penis during erection due to fibrous tissue occurring in an area of the penis) without the need for surgery, as there is an improvement to the tissue and resolution of the fibrous tissue with each treatment.

Blood platelets contain growth factors that stimulate collagen synthesis, skin renewal, cell growth, and tissue regeneration. Plasma contains fibrinogen, a protein that catches platelets at a wound site to form a clot. Platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) therapy is therefore a completely natural way for your skin to rejuvenate and repair since it uses your own blood and your body’s own healing powers in inducing tissue growth.

An amount of blood is drawn, just like in a blood test, and spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets and plasma from the other components of blood. The PRP is usually then activated with calcium (chloride or gluconate) to trick the platelets into thinking that they are in the body and the body has been injured.

The PRP is then injected into the penis, creating the equivalent of mini-wounds. Multi-potent stem cells already in your skin therefore become activated ‘believing’ that new and younger tissue is needed. As a result, new tissue that includes new collagen is grown, new fatty tissue is produced for skin smoothness and new blood vessels (neovascularisation) are formed to increase blood flow, increase girth and width and strengthen erection.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the P-Shot® used for?

A failed erection that occurs more than 80% of the time is erectile dysfunction. Causes of erectile dysfunction can be physical and mental, such as diabetes, obesity, low testosterone (Low-T), depression, stress, Peyronie’s disease, high blood pressure, heart disease and anxiety. Alcohol, smoking and drugs can also lead to male impotence problems.

The Priapus Shot® can treat Peyronie’s disease as well as treat male sexual dysfunction and enhance sexual performance without you having to resort to drugs such as Viagra or Cialis:

  • Inability to achieve or maintain erections: to improve sexual performance
  • Loss of sensation in the penis: to increase sensation and pleasure (and help correct any damage from diabetes)
  • Loss of sexual drive: to increase sexual interest and sexual stamina for a better sex life
  • Small penis size: to increase girth and length, depending on whether you want to improve the size of penis base or penis head
  • Lichen sclerosus: to treat itchy white patches of skin on the genitals
  • Peyronie’s Disease: to treat painful erections, bending of the penis and difficulties with sexual intercourse due to patches of scar tissue along the penis shaft.

What does the P-Shot® involve?

Treatment is simple and safe if carried out by Dr Unnati, who is an experienced and fully qualified clinician, following a detailed consultation to examine the areas to treat and decide on what is best for you.

Dr Unnati will apply a numbing anaesthetic cream to your penis for a comfortable treatment. The PRP is then injected into the penis using a tiny needle. The isolated platelets taken from your blood contain at least eight of your body’s own concentrated growth factors to rejuvenate skin quality and volume.

The treatment can take just 40 minutes, and you can resume most normal daily activities immediately afterwards including sexual intercourse.

How soon should you notice a difference?

In some cases, results are immediate; for others, it may take up to 3 – 4 weeks. You will notice maximum effect is at 3 months, at which time further treatments may be required.

A course of 3 treatments is usually recommended for Peyronie’s disease.

How long does treatment with the P-Shot®? last?

Effects last 18 months and could even be permanent.

Are there any side effects to the P-Shot®?

PRP Therapy with the P-Shot® involves injecting your own blood so any side effects are usually mild to moderate.

The short-lived side effects associated with the injection process include bleeding, swelling, tenderness and redness which settle within a few hours, and bruising which settles within a few days.

There is a minimal risk of infection as needles break the natural barrier to infection when creating a small wound in the skin. Please therefore avoid touching the area for 6 hours after treatment. You may experience some itching and discolouration at the site of treatment which should settle within a few days.

When should the P-Shot® not be used/be used with caution?

  • If you have critical thrombocytopaenia (a low number of platelets in the blood)
  • If you have septicaemia
  • If you have haemodynamic instability (an unstable blood pressure)
  • If the areas to be injected are inflamed or infected
